[Blog Post #20 of 21]
Charles Darwin said, “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”
How are you responding to the changes swirling around your industry?
My friends in real estate are learning how to use social media to communicate with their prospects.
If their audience is using Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Snapchat it makes perfect sense to use those platforms to connect.
Each platform has a learning curve and that deters many. But those who embrace the challenge and become comfortable will win. Right?
Learning to use a platform will get them in the game. Then they'll face an even bigger challenge...
How can they stand out?
Creating great content that resonates with an audience requires empathy and creativity.
They need to understand their customer’s "pain" and deliver valuable content in a way that is unique, engaging, authentic, and entertaining.
This isn’t easy.
Two ways I exercise my creativity muscles are by 1) interacting with people from different fields and 2) listening to thought leaders.
I counsel several friends on social media. When I apply what I’ve learned to their world, I get ideas to improve how I can reach my audience.
Second, I listen to podcasts, read blog posts, and watch videos.
One podcast I find especially stimulating is A16Z from the preeminent Silicon Valley VC firm Andreessen Horowitz. They cover the new frontiers of technology. Every episode fascinates me. It may be AI, VR, data mining, mobile first, or even drone use in rural Africa for delivering medicine.
I also watch videos featuring Seth Godin, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Tim Ferris.
I love those guys.
Their brilliance has shaped my thinking and inspired me to improve myself and help others.
