Excitement is My New Caffeine

[Blog Post #26 of The 21-Day Blog Post Challenge]

Have you ever watched interviews with Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, or Evan Spiegel talk about the early days of building their business?

They describe endless coding. Sitting at their keyboards until they collapse from exhaustion and then lying on the floor to sleep for a few hours. They wake up and get back to work.

I’m sure there’s a lot of caffeine and Red Bull that keeps them going, but there’s also adrenalin.

Their racing hearts pump an extra supply of blood to their brains. This gives their intellect a boost of creative insight that may provide the missing code they’re seeking.

If you watch them work or speak, they exude energy and restlessness. They rock back and forth at their desk and speak super fast. Their mouths barely keeping up with their brains.

They cannot contain their excitement.

They believe their work will change human behavior at scale. It could even alter human history.

And if that’s not enough of a rush, they believe their competitors, known and unknown, are nipping at their heels. The threat of someone beating them to the finish line signals danger and drives them even harder.

These guys are beasts.

But the ability and willingness to work 12 or more hours a day, 7 days a week, isn’t limited to this exclusive club of tech titans.

It’s shared by millions of entrepreneurs, business owners, and leaders who are driven to do something special.

If you are using your intellect, passion, and energy to build something big, you’ve noticed how time flies by when you are immersed in your work.

You are part of an exclusive club.
